1950’s bands

Hi all! And welcome to my first official blog. Today I’m going to be talking about bands from the 1950’s. Society in the 1950’s were expressed through songs. Most songs from this period were innocent and about love, so let’s take a look at a few bands. The first band I’d like to look at is ‘Dion And The Belmont’s’ (picture above) . They were a band in the late 1950’s. They had great hits like ‘The Wanderer’, ‘Runaround Sue’, and  ‘A Teenager In Love’. The band’s style was swing. They were very popular in the 1950’s especially by female teenagers.

The ‘Everly Brothers’ were also very popular  during this time. They were a group in the 1950’s . They released great songs like ‘When Will I Be Loved’, ‘All I Have To Do Is Dream’ and ‘Wake Up Little Susie’. The band’s style was Country and Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The Chordettes were a female group in the 1950’s and they sang songs like ‘Mr Sandman’ , ‘Lollipop’ and ‘Pink Shoelaces’. They were very talented with their unique voices. The band’s style was Barbershop Music, Traditional Pop and Pop/Rock.

The Andrew Sisters were a band late in the 1950’s. They sang songs like ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo’,’ Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’ and ‘Rum And
Coca-Cola’.  They were very talented and elegant. The band’s style was Swing, Boogie Woogie and Pop.

One of the top hits in the 1950’s for the bands  were ‘Rock Around The Clock’ by Bill Haley & His Comets’ and that was in the year 1955.

I hope you all enjoyed my first blog. There’s so much more to come! Tune in next week for ‘Vinyl Times’  blog two.
