1950’s Actors

Good Afternoon all! And welcome back to my fourth blog. Today I’m going to be talking about famous actors from the 1950’s. The actors I’m going to be focusing on are Jimmy Stewart, Montgomery Clift and Charlton Heston.

Jimmy Stewart (picture above) was a very well known actor in the 1950’s. His well known movies were ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, ‘Mr Smith Goes To Washington’ and ‘Harvey’, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’  became a Christmas classic but when it was released it held some controversy within the public eye as some believed that the movie was too sentimental; but as years went on people began to appreciate the movie more‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ tells the story of a man named George Bailey who is a hopeless man in despair until an angel is sent from heaven to help George Bailey by showing him what life would’ve been like if he had never existed.

‘Mr Smith Goes To Washington’ is about an innocent man who is appointed to fill a vacancy in the United States Senate. His plans collide with political corruption, but he doesn’t plan to back down.

And finally ‘Harvey’ tells the story of a middle -aged man whose family thinks he’s insane. But it turns out he could be wiser than you think.

Montgomery Clift was an American actor in films such as ‘From Here To Eternity’, ‘A Place In The Sun’ and ‘Suddenly Last Summer’. ‘From Here To Eternity’  is set in Hawaii in 1941 and is about a private who is punished for not boxing in on his units team, while his captain’s wife and second- in-command are falling love.

‘A Place In The Sun’ tells a story of a poor boy who gets a job working for his rich uncle and then falls in love with two women. ‘Suddenly Last Summer’is about Violet Venable’s son who dies on holidays with his cousin Catherine. What the girl sees is so horrible that she goes insane. now Violet wants Catherine lobotomized to cover up the truth.

Charlton Heston was an American actor and political activist. He starred in films such as

‘The Ten Commandments’, ‘Ben-Hur’ and ‘Tombstone’. ‘The Ten Commandments’ is set back in Egyptian times when the Egyptian prince named Moses learns about his heritage as a Hebrew and his mission as a deliverer to his people. The next movie he was in was ‘Ben-Hur’.

‘Ben-Hur’ tells a story of a Jewish prince who is betrayed and sent into slavery and he eventually regains his freedom and wants to seek revenge. The last film I’m going to discuss is ‘Tombstone’. ‘Tombstone’ was set in 1879 and tells the story of a lawman’s plan to retire in tombstone Arizona, but are disrupted by the kind of outlaws
he was famous for eliminating.

Here is the trailer of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ starring Jimmy Stewart.
