1950’s Directors

Good Evening all! And welcome back to my fifth blog. Today I’m going to be talking about famous directors from the 1950’s. The directors I’m going to be focusing on are Alfred Hitchcock, William Wyler, and George Stevens.

Alfred Hitchcock (picture above) is a very famous director. Even to this day he is very well known. His most famous movies he directed are ‘Psycho’, ‘Vertigo’ and ‘The Birds’. ‘Psycho’ tells the tale of a Phoenix secretary who steals forty thousand dollars from her employer’s client . She flees to an isolated motel which is run by a young man under the control of his mother.

‘Vertigo’ tells the story of a police detective who is struggling with his personal demons alongside his obsession with a beautiful woman.
‘The Birds’ is about A wealthy San Francisco noble who chases a likely boyfriend to a small Northern California town that
slowly takes a turn for the worst when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people.

William Wyler is a famous director. His movies are well known. He directed movies such as ‘Mrs. miniver’, ‘The Desperate Hours’ and ‘Detective story’. ‘Mrs. Miniver’ is about a British family who fight to survive the first months of World War 2. ‘The desperate hours’ tells the story of three convicts who escaped and they torment a suburban family. Last but not least ‘Detective story’ tells the narrative that one day in the 21st precinct squad room, diverse individuals form a scene for the detective Jim McLeod.

George Stevens is a famous film director, producer, screenwriter and cinematographer. His movies are quite famous. He directed movies such as ‘Something To Live For’, ‘Shane’ and ‘The Diary Of Anne Frank’. ‘Something To Live For’ Tells the story of an actress who becomes an alcoholic after being abandoned. She falls in love with an alcoholics anonymous whom she has an affair with even though he’s married. ‘Shane’ is about a worn out gunfighter who attempts to settle down with a homestead family whilst a seething rancher dispute forces him to act. ‘The Diary Of Anne Frank’ illustrates how a Jewish girl named Anne frank who was demanded to go into hiding with her family so they wouldn’t be sent to the concentration camps by the Nazis who inhabited the Netherlands at this time.
