Good morning all! And welcome back to my twenty fourth and final blog. Today I’m going to be talking about directors from the 1980’s. The directors I’m going to be talking about are ‘Steven Spielberg’, ‘John Hughes’, and ‘Brian De Palma’.

‘Steven Spielberg’ is an American film maker. He is one of the most popular producers and directors in film history. He did films like ‘E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial’, ‘Indiana Jones Raiders Of The Lost Ark’, and ‘The Colour Purple’.

‘E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial’ A problematic child gains the courage to help a friendly alien escape Earth and return to his planet.

‘Indiana Jones Raiders Of The Lost Ark’ In 1936, archaeologist Indiana Jones is hired by the U.S. government to find the Ark of the Covenant before Adolf Hitler’s Nazis get it.

‘The Colour Purple’ A Southern black woman battles with her past from an abusive father and has difficulty finding her identity.

‘John Hughes’ was an American filmmaker but passed away August 6th 2009. He did films such as ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’, ‘The Breakfast Club’, and ‘Pretty In Pink’.

‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off ‘A wise guy is determined to have a day off from school no matter what the circumstances may be.

‘The Breakfast Club’ Five school students meet in detention and they have more in common than they realise.

‘Pretty In Pink’ A girl must make a decision whether she should date her childhood sweetheart or a player.

‘Brian De Palma’ is an American screenwriter and film director. He did films like ‘Scarface’, ‘’The Untouchables’ and ‘Wise Guys’.

‘Scarface’ In Miami, in 1980 a Cuban immigrant gains control over a drug organisation and surrenders himself to greed.

‘The Untouchables’ federal agent Eliot Ness is assigned to stop
gangster Al Capone and assembles a team to help him.

‘Wise Guys’ Harry Valentini and Moe Dickstein are errand boys for the Mob. When they lose two hundred fifty thousand dollars. they are set up to kill each other. But they run off to Atlantic City.

in films like ‘Romancing The Stone’, ‘Peggy Sue Got Married’ and ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’.

‘Romancing The Stone’ A timid romance novelist makes her way to Colombia to save her sister that’s been kidnapped. She finds herself in a threatening adventure looking for treasure with a greedy dishonest man.

‘Peggy Sue Got Married’ After Peggy Sue wakes up from fainting at a school reunion she finds herself back in the past before she finished school.

‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ A cartoon rabbits only hope in proving his innocence of murder is a detective who hates toons.

‘Sigourney Weaver’ is an American actress. She was movies like ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Aliens’, and ‘Working Girl’.

‘Ghostbusters’ Three professors set up an organisation to remove ghosts. They’re known as ‘The Ghostbusters’.

‘Aliens’ Ellen Ripley is saved by a rescue team after being in hyper sleep for 57 years. ‘The Nostromo’ went to visit the moon but it has been occupied. Communication is lost. But this time colonial marines have impressive firepower, but is that enough?

‘Working Girl’ A secretary’s boss has decided to steal her idea, so the secretary grasps the opportunity to steal it back by pretending she has her managers job.

‘Geena Davis’ Geena Davis is an American actress, activist, producer, model and archer. She starred in films like ‘Beetlejuice’, ‘The Fly’, and ‘The Accidental Tourist’.

‘Beetlejuice’ The deceased couple’s spirits are disturbed by and intolerable family that has decided to move into their home and so they hire a malevolent spirit to get them out.

‘The Fly’ A talented but eccentric scientist transforms transform into a giant man/fly after one of his experiments goes fearfully wrong.

‘The Accidental Tourist’ After his son is killed and his marriage is hanging on by a thread an emotionally reserved writer of travel guides must carry on with his life as normal.

‘Mrs. Soffel’ Peter Soffel is a warden of a remote American prison. His wife Kate becomes attracted to a prisoner Ed Biddle. She abandons her husband and children to help Ed and his brother Jack escape.

‘Patrick Swayze’ was an American dancer, actor, singer and songwriter. He played romantic lead characters and tough guys. He was very popular amongst the female audiences. He was a teen idol and a sex symbol. He starred in movies like ‘Dirty Dancing’, ‘The Outsiders’, and ‘Youngblood’.

‘Dirty Dancing’ Baby spends her summer with her family at Catskills resort. She falls in love with the camps dance instructor, Johnny Castle.

‘The Outsiders’ There’s rivalry between the two gangs ‘The Poor Greasers’ and the ‘Rich Socs’. But worse comes to worse when one of the gang members kills a member from the other gang.

Good evening all! And welcome back to my twenty first blog. Today I’m going to be talking about male singers from the 1980’s. The male singers I’m going to be talking about are ‘Bruce Springsteen’, ‘Paul Young’, and ‘Rick Astley’.

‘Bruce Springsteen’ (His album cover for ‘Born In The USA, picture above) is an American singer-songwriter, and leader of the ‘E Street Band’. His nickname is ‘The Boss’. He’s known for his poetic lyrics, his lively stage performances, his distinctive voice and his Jersey background. He sang songs like ‘Born In The USA’. ‘Dancing In The Dark’, and ‘Cover Me’.
‘Paul Young’ is an English musician, singer and songwriter. He turned into a teen idol in the 1980’s after gaining fame from his solo success. He has songs like ‘Wherever I Lay My Hat’, ‘Love Of The Common People’, and ‘Everytime We Go Away’.

‘Rick Astley’ is an English radio personality and a singer songwriter. He sang songs like ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, ‘Together Forever’, and he done a cover of one of Nat King Cole’s famous song ‘When I Fall In Love’.

One of the top hits for the male singers of the 1980’s was ‘I Should’ve Known Better’ by Jim Diamond which spent 1 week at no.1 on 1st December 1984.

‘Cher’ is an American singer and actress. The media refers her as the
‘Goddess Of Pop’. She recently starred in ‘Mamma Mia Here We Go Again’. She sang songs like ‘Just Like Jesse James’, ‘Heart Of Stone’, and ‘I Found Someone’.

‘Madonna’ Madonna is an American singer-songwriter, businesswoman, and actress. Madonna is known as the ‘Queen Of Pop’. She sang songs like ‘Crazy For you’, ‘Borderline’, and ‘True Blue’.

One of the top hits for the female singers of the 1980’s was ‘Woman In Love’ by Barbara Streisand which spent 3 weeks at no.1 between the 19th October-November 8th 1980.

Good morning all! And welcome back to my thirteen blog. Today I’m going to be talking about bands from the 1980’s. The bands I’m going to be talking about are ‘Wham!’, ‘Eurythmics’ and ‘U2’.

‘Wham!’ Wham! (picture above) were an English pop duo. Their names were George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. Their two backing singers in the band were ‘Pepsi’ and ‘Shirley’. They formed in London in 1981. They sang songs like ‘Club Tropicana’, ‘I’m Your Man’, and ‘Freedom’.

‘Eurythmics’ Eurythmics was a duo consisting of ‘Annie Lennox’ and ‘David A. Stewart’. They were a British band. They songs like ‘Sweet Dreams’, ‘Love Is A Stranger’, and ‘There Must Be An Angel’.

‘U2’ are an Irish rock band from Dublin. They were formed in 1976. The band members are ‘Bono’, ‘The Edge’, ‘Adam Clayton’, and ‘Larry Mullen Jr. They sang songs like ‘With Or Without You’, ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’, and ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’.
One of the top hits for the Band of the 1980’s were ‘Funkytown’ by ‘Lipps Inc’ which spent 2 weeks at No.1 November 6th 1971.

‘George Roy Hill’ George Roy Hill (picture above) was an American film director. He directed films such as ‘A little Romance’, ‘The Sting’ and ‘SLAP Shot’.

‘A Little Romance’ Daniel a French boy and Lauren an American boy attend the same school in Paris and they meet and a little romance begins.
They befriend Julius, who intrigues them with his storytelling. To make sure that the teens’ love is forever. the three then decide to go to Venice.

‘The Sting’ Two con men team up to pull off the ultimate con.

‘Slap Shot’ A failing ice hockey team finds victory with scandalous violent hockey shoving.

‘Robert Benton’ is an American screenwriter and film director. He done films such as ‘Kramer vs Kramer’, ‘Superman’, and ‘There Was A Crooked Man’.

‘Kramer vs Kramer’ Tells the story of Ted Kramer whose wife leaves him, allowing the possibility for a lost bond to be rediscovered between Ted and his son, Billy. But a custody battle ensues over the divorced couple’s son, deepening the wounds left by the separation.

‘Superman’ Christopher Reeve is an alien from another planet whose mission is to become a superhero on earth.

‘There Was A Crooked Man’ A ruthless criminal is sent to Arizona prison. He gets the help of his cellmates in an attempt to escape with the promise of sharing his hidden stolen goods.

‘Francis Ford Coppola’ is an American producer, screenwriter, film director and film composer. He did films such as ‘The Godfather’, ‘The Godfather Part II’, and ‘The Great Gatsby’.

‘The Godfather’ This movie tells the story of the mafia. When his father passes away he becomes in charge of the mafia.

‘The Godfather Part II’ Tells the story of Vito Corleone’s early life and career in the 1920s New York City. While his son, Michael tightens his grasp on the family crime

‘The Great Gatsby’ A man by the name of ‘Jay Gatsby’ a Midwesterner becomes fascinated with his neighbour, who obsesses over his lost love.

He sang songs like ‘You’re The First, The Last, My Everything’, ‘Just The Way You Are’ and ‘Can’t Get Enough Of You Love, Babe’. His genre was ‘Rhythm and Blues’, ‘Funk’, Disco’ and ‘Soul Music’. Sadly he passed away July 4th 2003.

‘Bob Dylan’ Bob Dylan is an American Author, Visual Artist, and Singer-Songwriter. He has been a popular figure for six decades. He had songs like ‘Tangled up In Blue’, ‘Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door’, and ‘Forever Young’. His genre is ‘American Folk Music’, ‘Blues’, ‘Rock’, ‘Gospel Music’, ‘Traditional Pop’, and ‘Country Music’.

One of the top hits for the male Singers of the 1970’s were ‘Superstition’ by Stevie Wonder which spent 1 week at No.1 January 27th 1973.
